Mark chapter 14 begins with the scene in which the chief priests and the scribes seek a way to put Jesus to death. People tried to remove Jesus by a scheme, but that plan could not overthrow the plan of God’s salvation. Jesus did not die because He was seized and had no other choice; He gave Himself up as the true Passover Lamb. A woman of Bethany poured fragrant oil and prepared for His burial, but Judas took money and sought an opportunity to deliver the Lord up.
